Dave Jordan was born in Penrith, situated in the north of the Lake District, Cumbria, with plenty of inspiration for photography.
'I've found a style of landscape photography I enjoy. I try to capture the feeling of a place rather than just record an image. Using light and shapes to show symmetry, textures and depth produces the effect I like. I prefer to use a wide angle lens and get close to the subject, looking for unusual angles and only zooming closer when I want to focus on a particular detail.'
Manipulation software is mainly used to erase signs that distract from the subject. Occasionally I will adjust the colours or remove colour completely where it becomes unnecessary.
Most of the photographs found at Luminare are of the English Lake District in Cumbria. Among the enchanting places photographed are Ullswater, one of the highest lakes in the Lake District at 145 m above sea level, Ullswater's name originates from the Lord of Ullswater, L'Ulf, a Viking or Norse settler; and Windermere, England's largest lake named after Vinand, a Norse settler.
